NPC mode turns the spotlight away from bosses and onto the named characters that populate FromSoftware’s worlds - merchants, questgivers, invaders, firekeepers and doomed knights.

Five clues about the hidden character unlock progressively: their role, where you first meet them, their species, their covenant, and whether they sell you anything. Every wrong guess also tells you which attributes your guess shares with the answer.

With hundreds of named characters across seven games, this is the mode that rewards actually talking to everyone instead of rolling past them.
